KAIROS BLANKET EXERCISE – April 23, 2022
The Parish of St. Timothy invites you, in partnership with Development and Peace, to the KAIROS Blanket Exercise, to learn more about the history of colonization of Indigenous peoples in Canada and the role of the Church and government, and the resilience of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. Led by an Indigenous elder, this simulation will take place from Saturday, April 23 from 9:30 am to 1 pm at the Parish of St. Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Road, Winnipeg. The blanket exercise will allow non-indigenous participants to put themselves in the place of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and the consequences that these peoples have suffered due to colonization. The goal of this exercise is to allow participants to learn and to develop a deeper engagement in Reconciliation. There is NO CHARGE to participate. The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is open to anyone 16 years and older. The maximum number of participants for this will be 50 with a minimum of 30 needed for the KAIROS Blanket Exercise. We are taking reservations for the event via our RSVP Church website system: https://rsvp.church/r/mRvh7Ock or call the parish office at 204-949-3760. Please reserve no later than Thursday, April 21.
