“Pray to the master of the harvest to send out workers for the harvest”

We as a parish have been invited to become part of a program initiated by our Archdiocese. It’s called the Parish Vocations Cross.  The Vocation Cross initiative responds to Jesus’ command,

“Pray to the master of the harvest to send out workers for the harvest” (Mt.  9:38)

Through the Parish Vocation Cross Initiative, we hope to create a greater “Culture of Vocation”; helping to raise awareness of the need for vocations among the Catholic faithful.  All are called universally to holiness.  Some are called to live this out as priest or deacon.  Others are called to religious life as a sister or brother.  Many are called to sacred married life and yet others to live a sacred single life. Whatever the vocation, it is our responsibility as faithful Catholics to help one another listen, hear and respond to God’s call.

It is our hope that this experience will encourage each of us to take seriously our Universal Call to Holiness and the particular vocation we are called to.  All are encouraged to pray for the gift of vocations to  priesthood and religious life, sacred single and sacred married life!  We believe the Spirit is calling forth all men and women from our faith community to these roles of service.  May our prayer help inspire young men and women to be attentive to the movement of the Spirit within them and to step forward in faith and with generous hearts to wherever the Spirit leads them.

How Does it Work ?   Can I Participate and How ?

Picture

Each week, a family, couple or individual will come forward at the end of Mass to receive the Vocation Cross and the set of materials that accompany it.

All of you are invited to participate in this program.  There is a sign up sheet located at the back of the Church.  You are encouraged to sign up for one of the weeks.  Please indicate which mass you will be attending, so arrangements can be made, if necessary, to ensure that the kit has been returned prior to that mass.  Also, please include your phone number and email in case we need to contact you.

Then what do I do ?  What's my commitment?

In taking the Vocations Cross Kit, the family, couple or individual commits themselves to pray for and discuss vocations during the week.  Please use the materials that feel comfortable for you. You are invited to keep copies of the printed materials when you return the Vocation Cross Kit.

Please return the kit at mass the following weekend, as another family will have signed up to use it.  If circumstances prevent you from being able to return the kit, please contact the Parish Life Coordinator (Janice Cummine) at 204-224-1669 ext. 4 or catechismblesseds@mymts.net.  Please let the Parish Life Coordinator know if any items are missing from the kit or if more copies of the printed materials are needed.

What's in the kit to help me ?
